To promote cross cultural awareness and serve as a resource for Physician Assistant services to domestic and international health professional shortage areas.
PAGH works towards being the authoritative and definitive representative of the PA profession internationally.
A global deficit of qualified health care professionals exists. PAGH will contribute to the solution of this situation by fostering the use and exposure of qualified Physician Assistants worldwide. PAGH will do this by:
A. Promoting the ethical imperative of all Physician Assistants to volunteerism for underserved populations globally
B. Providing Physician Assistants and other health care providers with a forum to enhance their knowledge and skills in identifying and treating disease and medical maladies of the economically poor and medically underserved populations worldwide
C. Enhancing the opportunities for Physician Assistants to network with other health care providers and/or organizations that have provided medical care to the underserved, thereby encouraging the future participation of Physician Assistants to the populations needing their medical expertise worldwide.
D. Developing and maintaining both a Speaker's Bureau and a Job Resource for PAGH members
E. Establishing a 501C3 tax exempt status for PAGH to further global healthcare to the medically underserved
F. Facilitating activities to provide assistance and support to Physician Assistants, other health care professionals and for health services globally
G. Coordinating and organizing activities to disseminate health care information concerning the delivery and quality of healthcare services worldwide. Information specific to infectious diseases, tropical diseases, wilderness/emergency medicine, preventative medicine, nutrition and obstetrics, as well as other areas deemed pertinent shall be the focus of the various learning activities
H. Other activities and actions approved by the Board of Directors to promote the Vision, Mission, and Purposes of the Physician Assistant for Global Health organization
We do not:
- Organize our own PAGH trips, we want to help connect PAs with trips and educate you for work in underserved areas
- Create PA programs in other countries though we feel the presence of PAs in other countries will facilitate the use of the PA model
- Create student rotations or validate student rotations but we do support PA students and provide resources for PA students
